A Review of the Comprehensive Guide
Prior to choosing a specific book for the Muslim Inmates in a facility, we interview their chaplain to assess their level and needs. Once we have gathered sufficient information, an appropriate title(s) is then selected to be fundraised and shipped to the inmates.
Quite often, the facilities we contact may have some new Muslims who need authentic Islamic materials to teach them the basics of Islam. Therefore, once we have gathered sufficient information, an appropriate title(s) is then selected to be fundraised and shipped to them.
In this article, we briefly review the book “A Comprehensive Guide For The New Muslim.” It is an excellent book authored by Ustaadh Anwar Wright and published by Hikmah Publications. It is geared towards the new Muslim and is written in a simple, easy to read style.
The book covers Aqeedah, Faith, Prayer, and other fundamental issues essential for a new Muslim to learn. We have included the table of contents page below for more details.
Overview of topics and issues covered in the book
Ideally, the inmates can maximize more benefit from this book under the tutelage of a teacher. However, in the absence of one, they can still read this book and learn about their religious requirements in shaa Allah.
Alhamdulilāh, for those that are on the outside, there are classes available going over this book. The author teaches this book at Germantown Masjid in Philadelphia. In Maryland, Ustaadh Kashiff Khan is also teaching this book at Masjid Al-Hidaayah. Locally in Pittsburgh, Salaah Brooks is teaching this book to the new Muslims in the community.
We hope that these classes will be made available on platforms for the inmates to download and benefit from soon in shaa Allah.
